Israel truly lost war in Gaza: Reserve general
An Israeli reserve general says the regime must put an end to its aggression on Gaza as he admits that Israel has lost the war to the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and the people in Gaza.
Itzhak Brik said in an opinion piece published in the Israeli newspaper Maariv on Sunday that the Tel Aviv regime has no chance of winning the war against Hamas even by attacking the crowded city of Rafah in Gaza’s south where more than a million have been sheltering from the regime’s relentless airstrikes and ground attacks.
“We really lost, in case you haven't understood that yet ... Israel should declare the end of the war because it truly lost,” said Brik in the article.
He said that the real threat to Israel is its prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and members of his war cabinet, including Benny Gantz and Yoav Gallant, calling the group and their allies a real circus that endangered the regime.
The general said that Netanyahu is not interested in ending the war in Gaza and rather seeks to preserve his regime.
The comments come as Gantz said in a speech to the Israeli parliament on Sunday that the regime has yet to reach its declared objectives in Gaza.
He said the Israeli army is facing difficult operational challenges in Gaza but insisted that political, economic and military pressure will increase on people in the enclave to guarantee the success of the regime’s war policies.
More than 34,000 people have been killed in Gaza since Israel launched its brutal campaign on the Palestinian territory in early October.
The war started after Hamas carried out an unprecedented military operation into the occupied Palestinian territories, killing nearly 1,200 Israeli settlers and military forces.
