Smoke clouds billow over Berlin after fire at factory with chemicals storage

A large fire at a Berlin metalworking factory on the outskirts of the German capital led to plumes of black smoke on Friday (May 3), with firefighters fearing it may contain toxics.

According to a spokesman for Berlin's fire department, the fire broke out on the first floor of the multi-Storey building where chemicals are stored and which prompted firefighters to ask local residents to stay indoors, to close all windows and to turn off air conditions.
